Negros COMELEC finalizing peace and order assessment for May polls

The Commission on Elections in Negros Occidental is finalizing its assessment of the peace and order situation of the province, Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, provincial election supervisor, said on Monday.

Ananoria said the assessment will be finalized during the meeting of the Provincial Joint Security Control Center (PJSCC) meeting set on Tuesday, February 18 in Bacolod City.

The meeting will be attended by Atty. Lionel Marco Castillano, regional election director for the Negros Island Region as well as representatives frim the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army and the Philippine Coast Guard.

Negros Occidental is classified under the green category, based on the classification of the PNP.

Under the classification, green has no cause for concern, yellow has a history of political unrest, orange is with presence of armed groups, and red is critical or with grave concern that may warrant COMELEC control.* (EYA)
