TFK Lauds Action, Continuing Investigations of the House on Philhealth Anomalies

August 16, 2020

It was in early April, 2017 when Task Force Kasanag (TFK) received complaints from Concerned Citizens against some doctors and two hospitals in Bacolod City, particularly in charging services to Philhealth without actual operation or surgical as well as medical services.

When TFK, through its founder John J. Chiong referred the complaints to the regional and national PHilhealth offices as well as to appropriate agencies and to Malacañang, the regional Philhealth sent investigators.

The investigators later on conducted interviews in the homes of supposed Philhealth beneficiaries, with Chiong and other TFK members joining several probe teams that conducted interviews in separate barangays, starting in Kabankalan City.

Weeks later, the findings were consolidated.

Due to the persistent follow-up of TFK, at least three doctors and two hospitals were charged.

Now that such anomalies and new irregularities reached the House and congressional investigations are in, TFK hopes all those involved will be meted sanctions.

TFK head Chiong said if invited, TFK and the regional Philhealth can present findings about the complaints referred and acted upon by the civil society group.*
