A Movie About Autism
The film “Love Child”, a Jonathan Jurilla’s directoral debut movie, is now showing in cinemas nationwide. Another must-see movie to watch done by a Negrense film director and with film casts of several actors based in Negros Occidental.
Love Child – which is based on the writer/director’s (Jonathan Jurilla) personal experience as a father of a child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, stars RK Bagatsing as the father, Paolo, who along with his wife Ayla (Jane Onieza), and their son Kali, played by John Tyrron Ramos.
After learning that their son is diagnosed with autism, the young and unmarried couple was devastated but must face the bitter reality of raising a child with special needs in a country less than ideal – challenging both their dream of having a complete and harmonious family.
The writer/director aims to make a story that reflects a more authentic experience of families navigating autism. Filmed from the home province of the writer/director, in the cities of Silay, Talisay, and Bacolod.* (Andrew Altarejos text & photos)
