Gov’t troops discover firearms, ammos buried by communist-terrorists
The Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion discovered firearms, ammunition and an explosive it believed were buried by New People’s Army in Sitio Mocabog, Barangay Washington, Escalante City.
Lt. Col. Arnel Calaoagan, 79IB commander, said the discovered war paraphernalia included a caliber 38 revolver, a homemade 12 gauge shotgun with four ammunition, a 400mm ammunition for M203 grenade launcher, and 100 more ammunition, a KMP red flag and a camouflage uniform.
The discovery was made when residents informed the soldiers.
Weeks ago, 20 firearms were also recovered by the 79IB in a series of encounters with rebel remnants in Brgy. Pinapugasan, Escalante. The clashes left three rebels dead, and caused injuries to four soldiers.* (NBCG)
