Kabankalan mayor to seek re-election in 2025
Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie Miranda confirmed today, January 21 that he will seek reelection in 2025.
“I have no choice but to run again as mayor,” he told newsmen at the height of the Sinulog sa Kabankalan festivities.
Miranda said he consulted Kabankalanons and asked them about his leadership and that the majority urged him to continue his service to the people. “My force comes from the people and not from myself.”
The mayor said the city is now open to anyone who wants to run for public office.
I opened the city to anyone willing to run. I don’t say that someone is not good to run. Those who dream to serve can run. We also have the same intention and that is to serve the people,” he pointed out.
“May the best man win,” Miranda also said, adding that he is a member of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, the party of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
In the city these days, Kabankalanons are entertaining the possibility that former mayor and governor Isidro Zayco, incumbent Vice Mayor Miguel Zayco, Board Member Valentino Miguel Alonso, and even Cong. Mercedes Alvarez will run for Kabankalan mayor in 2025.
During the 2022 elections, Miranda defeated former mayor Pedro Zayco.* (APT/EYA)
