January 24, 2024

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said today, Jan. 24 that he wants a provincial police director who is a non-Negrense.

P/Col. Leo Pamittan, the current provincial police director, is up for transfer to a higher position after nearing his two years of duty as provincial police.

Lacson said there is really “no rush to the end of tenure of P/Col. Leo Pamittan.”

“I understand that they have to prepare a position for him in the national headquarters,” the governor pointed out.

“There have been candidates who visited me lately but what is important is that they are recommended by the Philippine National Police,” he said, adding that there have been two police officers who visited him and expressed interest in the position.

Lacson said he wants someone who “is dedicated to his job. He should also have the experience to become a provincial director. Somebody who does not favor anyone. He should be fair in treating all police stations. Not biased to anyone especially with elections in 2025.”

Under the leadership of Pamittan, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office was adjudged as best provincial police nationwide in 2023.

Lacson said that the three provincial police director during his term were awarded as Outstanding Provincial Police Director.

Earlier, the governor said that Pamittan, did an “outstanding job” for the year 2023.

Pamittan started serving as provincial police director of Negros Occidental since January 2022.

As of press deadline, no name has been identified as successor of Pamittan as the provincial police director of Negros Occidental.* (Eugene Y. Adiong)
