Murcia’s Tinabuay Festival Slated Dec.4-8

The famed Tinabuay Festival of the Municipality of Murcia kicks off December 4 and culminates December 8, the feast day of the town’s patroness, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
“We traditionally celebrate the town fiesta from December 1 until December 8. However, we empathize with all Murciahanons and Negrenses who suffered from Typhoons Tino and Verbena. We deem it more prudent to simplify and shorten this year’s festival, so that we can prioritize our resources and efforts towards alleviating the suffering of typhoon victims and helping them get back on their feet,” said Murcia Mayor Gerry M. Rojas.
Although the fiesta duration is shortened, it will feature live performances of popular bands and musicians every night. Performing bands and artists who will be joining Murcia’s fiesta are Cali Island (December 4), Elias J TV Band (December 5), Siakol (December 6), Echo Claridad (December 7) and Itchyworms (December 😎.
This year’s Tinabuay Festival starts on December 4 (Thursday) with a holy mass, parade, opening program, and opening of the Tindabuay Farmers Market (Trade Fair), which features the best agricultural products and handicrafts from the town’s 23 barangays.
Thursday’s activities include the Drum & Bugle Corps Competition in the morning, the 2nd Invitational Fancy Drill Competition in the afternoon, and the Mur-Siga Float Parade, “Siga Na Murcia Giant Wreath Competition”, and performance by the Central Philippine Adventist College (CPAC) Chorale in the evening.
Adlaw sg Kabataan banners the activities on December 5 (Friday), which also features the Pinta Bangko Contest (painting of wooden benches with Murcia’s tourist attractions, flora and fauna as themes), Zumba Dance Showdown, Sing-Galing Daigon Edition, and the Deped Night.
Saturday (December 6) showcases the 1st Mayor Gerry Rojas Enduro Competition, Karera de Cintas Bike Race, Adlaw sg Mangunguma, Murcia for Jesus, and the Association of Barangay Chairpersons (ABC) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Night.
On December 7 (Sunday), the activities are the Social Welfare Day, Mur Alupi Cooking Contest, Boxing Competition, Market Vendors Day, Car Show at Rizal Street, and the Reyna sg Tinabuay Beauty Pageant.
The fiesta culminates on December 8 (Monday) with the mass wedding, holy mass at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish Church, the Tinabuay Festival Street Dance & Arena Competition, and 3rd District Rep. Javi Benitez’s “Cong. Javi’s Day” with concert of Cong. Javi’s Band.
The awarding of winners and closing ceremony is scheduled in the evening, followed by a Fireworks Display and Tanduay Night, which will feature the live performance of the band “Itchyworms”.
“Come and join us, as we celebrate our town fiesta and give thanks to our patroness, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, for her continued blessings and protection to all Murciahanons. Mag tinabuay kita sa Murcia!” added Mayor Rojas.*
