Rotary Launches Post-Typhoon Mental Health Drive

In a display of community care and resilience, the Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara, led by President April Kitagawa, recently held a multi-sectoral Psychological First Aid outreach at La Carlota Sugar Central Elementary School, Bucalan, Brgy. SRA-RSB.

The initiative brought together the Rotaract Club of Marapara, Hearticulate Mental Health Advocates, Gawad Kalinga, Singles for Christ and CFC Single Ministry.

Designed to uplift families recovering from Typhoon Tino, the program featured storytelling and handwashing demonstrations for 55 children, alongside resilience-building workshops and emotional support sessions for parents and guardians. Open forums encouraged candid dialogue on post-disaster challenges, fostering empathy and shared healing.
Among the attendees was 11-year-old Princess Jane Abraham, a child with special needs, whose presence with her survivor parents underscored the importance of inclusive disaster response. Volunteers distributed stuffed toys, candies and goodie bags to children, while families received hygiene kits, clothing, water and essential supplies.

Presidents Faye Dongines (RC Bacolod-South) and April Kitagawa opened the program with messages of hope and solidarity. Volunteers expressed deep fulfillment in serving affected families, reinforcing the spirit of bayanihan and the transformative power of partnerships.
