In a vibrant display of youth empowerment, Mayor Greg Gasataya led the oath-taking ceremony for the Boys and Girls Week 2025 officials. This initiative, a collaboration between the Rotary Club of Bacolod and the Bacolod City Government, saw the induction of young leaders, including Junior City Mayor Humphrey Miles Bayot of Sum-ag National High School and City Vice Mayor Manny Nepomuceno of Bacolod City National High School. The elections, which took place on Nov. 10, 2025, marked the beginning of a week-long immersion into local governance.

From a pool of 130 students representing both public and private schools across the city, the Rotary Club of Bacolod meticulously selected outstanding youth leaders through a rigorous process of examinations, interviews, and elections. These young officials are tasked with formulating recommendations, policy proposals, and youth-centered projects that address the needs and aspirations of Bacolod’s younger population.

Junior City Mayor Bayot shared his vision with passion during the oath-taking.

“We are looking forward to crafting projects and resolutions that will truly impact the people of Bacolod. Our main focus is to provide a platform for the youth where they can voice their ideas. I have long dreamed of becoming an official for Boys and Girls Week, and now I can see the impact it has on my life. I have motivated my fellow youth that no matter your age, you can do something for the community,” he said.

Mayor Gasataya expressed his enthusiasm and support for the youth leaders.

“We are all excited for this one week with all of you. By Friday afternoon, you will submit your reports, observations, recommendations, and resolutions to the City Council. It is our honor to host this program—we will take care of everything because we also want to listen to your observations and suggestions. Let this experience guide you in the months and years ahead,” the mayor said.
