PSA NegrosOcc Conducts Third-Level Training for LFS With A Rider Question in Tourism Employment, Kasambahay, SOF
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Negros Occidental conducted a Third Level Training for October 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS) with Rider Questions on Tourism Employment, Kasambahay and Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF).
The five-day training aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for conducting the Labor Force Survey (LFS), providing timely and reliable statistics on the labor market, specifically on employment, unemployment, and underemployment. These statistics serve as vital inputs for policy formulation, program development, and economic planning.
Alongside its core objectives, the survey incorporates rider questions and supplementary modules to capture specialized information such as the contribution of tourism-related industries to employment, the socio-demographic characteristics and working conditions of domestic workers (kasambahays), and the number, profile, and remittance behavior of overseas Filipinos.
Collectively, these data sets enrich the understanding of labor dynamics across various sectors, support compliance with national laws such as the Domestic Workers Act, and provide critical inputs for tourism satellite accounts, migration policies, and broader socio-economic development initiatives.
The third level training session took place at May’s Garden in Bacolod City and was attended by 19 hired Statistical Researchers (SRs). The training was facilitated by Statistical Analyst Resty John M. Bancruz, Provincial Focal Person (PFP); Assistant Statistician April Rhea D. Ponsica, Assistant Provincial Focal Person (APFP); and Karl R. Tribunalo, COSWAPFP. In addition, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Supervising Statistical Specialist Ramon M. Locsin was also in attendance.
The program commenced on September 29 and concluded on October 3, 2025.* (Diesah S. Biaoco)
