Negros Folklore Comes Alive in Children’s Book Launch at Bacolod City Library July 15

In celebration of National Children’s Book Day, the Buglas Writers Circle, in partnership with the Bacolod City Public Library and the Christian Art National Various Arts Society (CANVAS), warmly invites the public to a Book Launch and Author Meet-and-Greet on July 15, 2025 at 5:00 PM, at the Bacolod City Public Library at Hernaez-Araneta Streets in Bacolod.
The event celebrates the release of the new children’s book, “Si Juan Pusong at Iba Pang Kuwentong-Bayan ng Negros”, published by Gem Publishing, a collection of retold and reimagined folktales from Negros that highlight the richness of Visayan oral tradition.
The book features the works of Miriam Montero-Bayles and fellow local writers whose stories bring to life the wit, wisdom, and wonder of Negrosanon culture. The highlight of the afternoon includes book readings, storytelling sessions, and a book signing by the authors.
This event is a tribute to the importance of children’s literature in preserving heritage and sparking imagination among young readers. Teachers, students, parents, writers, artists, and folklore enthusiasts are all welcome to join this meaningful literary gathering.
Admission is free. Copies of the book will be available at the venue.
