Mayor Gasataya Acts Fast: Traffic Lights Back in Service a Day After Assuming Office

July 4, 2025

True to his promise of swift and responsive action, Mayor Greg Gasataya wasted no time in addressing Bacolod’s traffic woes by activating previously non-functional traffic lights as early as his first full day in office.

During his speech at the Inaugural Session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod on July 2, Mayor Gasataya proudly announced the reactivation of the traffic lights at the busy Lopue’s East intersection, which had been non-operational for some time, creating daily congestion in the area.

The following day, the traffic lights at Bangga La Salle were also restored to working condition, providing much-needed order and safety for motorists and pedestrians along this busy junction.

Mayor Gasataya emphasized that repairs are ongoing for other traffic lights across the city and expressed his commitment to ensuring all traffic signal systems will be fully functional within his first 100 days in office, as part of his administration’s thrust to deliver immediate and visible improvements in the daily lives of Bacolodnons.

“Ang disiplina sa dalanon begins with systems that work. This is just the start of ensuring smoother traffic flow and safer roads for everyone in Bacolod,” Mayor Gasataya said.

The City Government urges motorists and pedestrians to remain patient as repair works continue across remaining intersections, assuring the public that a more efficient traffic management system is underway under Mayor Gasataya’s leadership.* (Bacolod City Communications Office)
