Iloilo Local Wins Grand Prize at Philippine Air Force Painting Competition
Kirby Guirhem Majaque, a local from Iloilo City won first place in the Philippine Air Force painting competition for the adult category.
In celebration of the Philippine Air Force’s 78th Anniversary, and in collaboration with the Art Association of the Philippines, artists from all around the country gathered to join this year’s theme called, “PAF: Guardians of the Sky, Defenders of the Archipelago.”
Majaque, 26, showcased his winning piece in a 3 D lenticular playing card concept which explores shifting color transformations of different aircrafts.
“My work honors the unwavering strength and dedication of the Philippine Air Force, highlighting their vital role of safeguarding and defending the country in vigilance, unity, and pride,” Majaque said to Negros Daily Bulletin.
In his concept, the “angel wings” that portrays the aircraft wing defines the modern day heroes and celebrates the dreams of Filipino children.
Along with Majaque, Lace Kirby Yaneza won second place of Bulacan, and Harrison Espina of Butuan City, wins third.
An estimate of almost 200 entries were submitted in the nationwide event. Among these, are from three Negrense PAF competition aspirants named Cresline Corsiga, GilJohn Quiamco, and Junie Dela Cruz.* (Kristine G. Alonso)
