The provincial government of Negros Occidental is planning to put up a “Lin-ay Academy” for those wanting to join the province’s biggest pageant event.
Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II, provincial administrator, said that the academy will be tasked with training Lin-ay sang Negros candidates “to prepare them for the pageant.”
The pageant is a major highlight of the yearly Panaad sa Negros Festival, he pointed out.
He added that through the academy, prospective beauty contestants will be trained to develop their poise, confidence and intelligence to make them ready.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is supportive of the idea.
The local government units of Negros Occidental are also amenable to the proposal, Diaz said.
Meanwhile, Diaz also said that next year the staging of the Best of Festival Dances competition may be held on two nights so that it will not bee too long.
The municipal and city categories could be held on separate nights, he added.*
