Power Watch Negros Commends NEPC

As a watchdog in the power industry, Power Watch Negros recognizes the crucial role of Negros Electric and Power Corporation (NEPC) or Negros Power for brevity, its crucial role in driving economic growth and development in the Negros Island Region (NIR).

Negros Power’s well maintained infrastructure and innovative solutions have minimized power outages ensuring customers of a stable and uninterrupted supply of electricity.

By providing a reliable and efficient power supply, Negros Power had improved the overall quality of life to both the residential and commercial customers.

Negros Power has made significant strides in reducing electricity rates, system losses and energy losses while improving customer satisfaction.

Residential power rates in Negros Occidental decreased by PHP 0.6030 per kWh in March 2025, setting the total rate at PHP 13.9595 per kWh. In October 2024, average residential power rates decreased due to lower generation charges with reduction ranging from PHP 0.62 to Php 1.63 per kWh.

Negros Power aims to reduce system losses by 70% over the next five years. Significant measures were implemented to upgrade and replace old equipment, repair rusty structures, replacing old transformers with new and efficient ones and the clearing of vegetation to minimize power outages.

Negros Power’s efforts to improve reliability, reduce outages and enhance customer’s satisfaction have a positive impact in as far as the evaluation of Power Watch is concerned. There maybe room for improvement needed particularly in the area of communication and transparency.*
