COMELEC: Don’t use gov’t vehicles in campaigning

March 26, 2025

The Commission on Elections in Negros Island Region (NIR) reminded incumbent candidates not to use government vehicles in campaigning.

The ban includes government vehicles used in transporting campaign materials and also in transporting voters during campaign rallies, Atty. Lionel Marco Castillano, COMELEC regional director, said.

Using government vehicles in campaigning is called “abuse of state resources”, he pointed out.

Castillano also said that those caught violating the warning will face charges of election offense that is “criminal in nature… they may be disqualified from holding public office.”

Castillano also reminded candidates not to put their candidacies in jeopardy because if they are found guilty for an election offense they cannot assume office they are elected to.*
