Gov says P50M budget for evacuees to last for 2 months

March 18, 2025

The P50 million financial assistance from the Office of the President will last just for two months, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said.

Lacson said that the financial assistance is intended for the food of the evacuees of the eruption of Kanlaon volcano.

Aside from the food for the evacuees, the financial assistance will be used for site development of permanent relocation of evacuees in Bago City and those in La Castellana, Lacson also said.

He added that the remaining P19 million is allotted for another round of food assistance for the evacuees.

Lacson is optimistic that Kanlaon volcano will de-escalate to Alert Level 2 so that the evacuees can return to their homes.

As of 6am on March 17, the Disaster Response Management Office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development reported that a total of 12,630 families composed of 48,528 persons from 27 barangays in Regions 6 and 7 were affected by the eruption of Kanlaon.*
