FREELANCER: On traffic lights, HPG & LTO checkpoints
Kadamo na nabati-an naton these days nga complaints about “poor cellular network” services. From voice calls that cannot get through or get dropped several times, to poor signal and audio, to data connectivity issues.
Although at times indi ta satisfied sa ila explanation, the only thing we can suggest to cellphone users is to drop by the office of the telecommunication company to report the problem.
Telcos, in the first place, must always monitor the performance of their facilities to ensure everything is working to the satisfaction of their subscribers.
EVERYTIME OPERATIVES OF THE HIGHWAY PATROL GROUP (HPG) or those of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) conduct checkpoints, many motorists get stranded because of their own making.
Pagkita nila sa layo pa lang nga may checkpoint, either mapundo sila samtang yara ang mga operatiba o mabalik sila or malikaw, kun may likawan. The problem is, such checkpoints are always set up in areas where motorists have no other alternative but wait for hours until the operatives transfer to other highway.
Ang importante, to get spared from such situation, is to make sure you renew your vehicle registration on time, you have the required devices like an early warning device, your signal and head lights are working, and your seatbelt is buckled up if you are driving a motorcycle, and also having an updated driver’s license.
The HPG, LTO and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) are just doing their job by enforcing their mandate.
THE BACOLOD GOVERNMENT IS STILL waiting for the arrival of spare parts needed to repair 10 traffic lights, while eight brand new units are also due for installation in busy intersections in the city.
Amo ni ang ginpahayag ni Bacolod Mayor Albee Benitez during his press conference Monday morning sang ginpamangkot siya for the update. Concerns have been aired because there are traffic lights not functioning and some do not have yellow lights (slow down signal) to warn motorists of an impending red light (stop sign).
We are hoping that sooner than expected, all the 10 traffic lights will be repaired, and the new ones will be installed considering the rapid increase in the number of vehicles.*
