Tribu Sicablun Quatro crowned Dinagsa street dance champion

The Tribu Sicablun Quatro of Barangays Sicaba, Luna and Zone 4 in Cadiz City was crowned as this year’s Dinagsa Festival’s street dance champion at the highly-anticipated tilt held on Sunday morning, January 26.

Tribu Sicablun Quatro bested seven other tribes in a tense yet energetic dance competition that drew hundreds of thousands spectators.

In an unprecented yet astonishing performance coupled with oozing dynamism, Tribu Sicablun Quartro outsmarted last year’s grand winner – Tribu Bucad Cadiz Viejo of Barangays Burgos, Caduhaan, Cadiz Viejo.

It took home the grand prize of P200,000 cash plus P50,000 for two minor awards – Best in Costume and Choreography.

Named second placer and Best in Performance was Tribu Tinambi-Tres of Barangays Tinampaan, Mabini and Zone 3.

It went home with P175,00 cash prizes.

Settling in the third place and hailed Best in Sound and Rythym was the former champion, Tribu Bucad Cadiz Viejo, hauling then a total of P125,000 in cash prizes.

While Tribu Hitalon of Barangays Zones 1 and 6 has landed in the fourth place, but named Most Disciplined tribe, pocketing a total of P100,000 in cash prizes.

Named consolation winners, and each with P50,000 cash prize included the following:
* Tribu Vilgus of Barangay Celestino Villacin and V.F. Gustilo
* Tribu Yabyab Dungol of Barangays Zones 2 and 5.
* Tribu Majeca of Barangays Magsaysay, Jerusalem and Cabahug
* Tribu Tibanda of Barangays Tiglawigan, Banquerohan and Daga.

Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr. thanked and praised all the participating barangays in their splendid and world-class performances in this year’s street dance competition themed: “Dinagsa goes international”.

“They all manifested the culture compassion and mindset of excellence,” he said.

“The eight competing tribes,” added Escalante, “also showcased dynamism and the beauty of synergy as added elements to the real cores of celebrating Dinagsa Festival anually – faith and devotion in their city’s patron, Sto. Nin̈o de Cadiz.”* (Cadiz City PIO)
