Mayor Benitez: Job order employees should stay out of politics
Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez wants job order (JO) employees to focus on their work diligently and remain apolitical.
He issued this statement to warn JOs that they must stick to their assigned tasks or face consequences for violating this directive.
Benitez aims to discontinue the practice of utilizing JOs during elections and other political activities, which was common in previous administrations.
During a recent press conference at the New Government Center, he said that he had requested the Civil Service Commission to clarify the matter by issuing a statement.
He emphasized that all JOs must abide by this policy without exception, including those who are allies of the current administration.
Benitez believes that being hired as a JO should not be considered a reward for loyalty to a particular politician.
He said that his administration is ensuring that JOs are diligently working and performing their duties, and that no one should be above accountability.* (Lorenzo O. Lambatin, Jr./NDB)
