Bacolod Mayor Benitez to extend aid to Kanlaon eruption victims

Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez expressed willingness to continue to assist victims of Kanlaon Volcano’s December 9 eruption.

“We are willing to provide all necessary assistance. We have made sure even if it is already December, we have enough resources for any eventuality,” he said during Tuesday afternoon’s press conference.

According to Benitez, the city is preparing for disasters like typhoons, thus the city is not spending much for the Christmas season.

He also confirmed the arrival of the city’s DRRMO staff in La Castellana for a humanitarian mission.

“Depending on the situation, the city may consider giving cash and would fill in the gap whatever is lacking,” Benitez said.
