BIOs take oath, pledge to boost info dissemination in Victorias

The newly elected Barangay Information Officers (BIOs) of Victorias City were officially sworn in by Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez during an oath-taking ceremony held at the City Hall’s 2nd Floor Lobby, October 21.

The event marked a significant milestone in the city’s efforts to strengthen grassroots communication and enhance public information dissemination.

Mayor Javi, in his address, commended the BIOs for their role in spreading vital information, particularly during emergencies such as the recent blackout.

“You are the information torchbearers for a more engaged and informed city,” he remarked.

The mayor also recognized their responsibility as ambassadors of good governance and public awareness, stressing the importance of their roles in building stronger connections between the local government and its constituents.

City Information Officer Joy Famini expressed her pride in the success of the initiatives, thanking the city for its ongoing support and empowerment of the Barangay Information Officers.

Regional Head of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) EnP Cheryle Amor, also extended her congratulations to the new officers via video message.

She applauded the strong collaboration between the city and the BIOs, which has bolstered communication efforts in the city.

Elected President Robson Eran of Barangay VIII emphasized the significance of the day by highlighting the vital role the BIOs play in fostering communication within their communities.

“What was once a mere vision is now a reality,” he said, humorously referring to their roles as “factual marites” within their respective communities.

The newly elected officers are as follows: President Robson Eran from Barangay VIII, Vice President Richelle Gallego from Barangay II, Secretary Desiree Joy Barredo from Barangay XIX, Assistant Secretary Dona Mae Daniel from Barangay XII, Treasurer Nelsa Mulavin from Barangay IX, Auditor Ma. Catherine Cadungon from Barangay XI, and Public Information Officer Jerry Garcia from Barangay XIX-A.

Also present during the ceremony were Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III and City Councilors Deilen Hofileña, Hermie Millan, Dino Jose Maria Acuña, Warlito Undar, Dexter Senido, Danilo De Asis Jr., Joji Larraga, Eric Alcobilla, and Trisha Mae Majan, who extended their support as the newly appointed barangay information officers begin their important roles in their respective communities.

Special thanks were given to BIO Coordinator Justine Sabalilag for his successful leadership in organizing the event, which was instrumental in making the ceremony a success.
