15 Mayoralty aspirants filed candidacies as of Oct. 7

In the 32 cities and towns in Negros Occidental including Bacolod, 15 mayoralty aspirants have so far filed their Certificates of Candidacy (CoC) as of October 7, data from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) showed.

Among those who have filed for reelection were were San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo, Pulupandan Mayor Miguel Antonio Peña, and Pontevedra Mayor Jose Maria Alonso.

Filing for mayor were former Silay City Mayor Mark Andrew Arthur Golez; Christine Miñada in Manapla; Napoleon Delfinado Jr. in San Enrique; Ricardo Presbitero in Valladolid; two in Bago City – Marina Javellana-Yao and Joshwa Margallo.

Binalbagan – former mayor Emmanuel Aranda; while two filed in La Castellana – Councilor Ryan Canoy and Clea Velasco.

Vice Mayor Adrian Villaflor filed for reelection in Moises Padilla; John Cordero in Kabankalan City; and Bebsie Villegas in Sipalay City.

In the first six days, a total of 30 aspirants filed their CoC for mayor, records show.

The reelectionists who filed early were Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego, Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas, Sipalay City Mayor Maria Gina Lizares, Ilog Mayor John Paul Alvarez, Hinoba-an Mayor Daph Anthony Reliquias, Calatrava Mayor Marilyn Era, Escalante City Mayor Beboy Yap, Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina Yulo, and Candoni Mayor Ray Ruiz.

Of the total number, six are from the 1st district, three in the 2nd district, 8 in the 3rd district, two are in the 4th district, four in the 5th district and seven in the 6th district, COMELEC records show.* (EYA)
