On Kabankalan mayoralty hopeful’s social media exchange: ‘They are having fun’

September 5, 2024

Governor Bong Lacson said Kabankalan Mayor Benjie Miranda and former governor and city mayor Isidro Zayco are just “having fun” in their social media exchange.

Gov. Lacson was referring to the recent exchange of Miranda and Zayco on social media apparently over who will the governor endorse in the 2025 elections.

On Wednesday, former Mayor Zayco posted a photo of him showing Lacson raising his hand as if to imply that the governor is endorsing him.

The governor said on Thursday that it was Zayco who raised his hand.

“I’m just an instrument of their joy,” Lacson said.

Not to be outdone, after a few hours, incumbent Mayor Miranda also posted a photo of his request to the governor to install a power supply in the city’s booth at the Panaad Park.

Miranda also captioned the letter “sunod ako naman mapa bayaw” in an apparent tirade against Zayco’s action.

As of posting time, Zayco has yet to categorically say that he is running for mayor of Kabankalan City.

Zayco and Lacson are both members of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).

In Kabankalan, aside from Zayco, expected to run for the city’s top post are incumbents Miranda and Board Member Valentin Alonzo.

The governor said that he will make the decision on whom to endorse after all the candidates have filed their candidacies in October.* (EYA)
