Rep. Mercedes Alvarez Meets With DENR Officials on Reviving CENRO Sipalay

In a significant move towards enhancing environmental governance and resource management, 6th District Representative Mercedes “Cheding” K. Alvarez-Lansang had a meeting with key officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6.

The meeting, held at the PENRO Conference Hall, was attended by DENR Region 6 OIC Regional Executive Director and Concurrent Capacity as Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Raul Lorilla, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Joan Nathaniel Gerangaya, OIC Kabankalan CENR Officer Wilfred Canto, and OIC Bago CENR Officer Rosievel Dimatulac.

The focal point of the discussion was the revival of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Sipalay City. The revival of CENRO Sipalay is seen as a critical step in strengthening environmental management and ensuring more efficient and localized service delivery in the area.

In addition to the discussions, a significant highlight of the meeting was the awarding of the Special Patent to CENRO Sipalay. This award marks a milestone in formalizing land ownership and management, paving the way for better governance and sustainable development in Sipalay City.

Rep. Alvarez expressed her commitment to supporting initiatives that promote environmental stewardship and sustainable development in the 6th District. She also emphasized the importance of collaboration between local and national agencies to address pressing environmental concerns and ensure the well-being of communities specifically in the CHICKS area.* (PENRO DENR)
