Bayanihan Spirit Ignites Brigada Eskwela ’24 in Silay

The annual Brigada Eskwela kicked off in Silay City on July 22, 2024, with a vibrant caravan leading to the Daddjis Covered Court, where the official ceremony commenced at 8:30 AM. This year’s theme, “Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan,” underscored the collaborative spirit that drives this nationwide initiative.

The event was a testament to the strong partnership between the Department of Education (DepEd) and various stakeholders, including the Heavenly Culture World Peace and Light Restoration (HWPL). John Evangelista, Principal 1 of Daddjis, welcomed attendees, while Roy P. Balinas, SEPS, SOCMOB, played a key role in organizing the event.

Salvador O. Ochavo Jr., EdD, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent, formally introduced the theme and objectives of Brigada Eskwela ’24, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in ensuring a conducive learning environment for all students.

The ceremony was further enriched by messages of support and help from prominent figures in the community. Hon. Jose Francisco “Kiko” B. Benitez, Representative of the 3rd District, Hon. Joedith C. Gallego, Mayor of Silay City, Vice Mayor Hon. Thomas Maynard J. Ledesma, and Councilor in charge of Education, Hon. Ryan Milos R. GAMBOA, all expressed their commitment to supporting the education sector.

Law enforcement agencies also demonstrated their unwavering support. PLT. Col. Mark Anthony Darocca, PNP Chief of Silay City, and BFSUPT Rodel T. Legaspi from the Bureau of Fire Protection, conveyed their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of schools.

The Brigada Eskwela ’24 event extended beyond the official ceremony. DepEd Silay teachers, volunteers, parents, students, and scholars participated in a meaningful tree planting activity, symbolizing their commitment to environmental sustainability. The day concluded with a thorough cleaning of school premises, reflecting the shared responsibility for a clean and healthy learning environment.
