Firearms cache seized from 3 nabbed rebels

The arrest of three suspected remnants of the dismantled New People’s Army Northern Negros Front (NNF), including two minors, on April 25 in Sitio Humayan, Brgy. Pinowayan, Don Salvador Benedicto town led to the confiscation of a cache of firearms and ammunition.

The Philippine Army named the arrested rebels as Jundel Alforque, 21, his 17 year old brother, as well their 16 year old first cousin, whose identities are being withheld by authorities.

The Joint Law Enforcement Operation of the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (NOCPMFC) and Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion also resulted in the seizure of a cache of firearms and ammuniton, including a KG9 sub machine gun, a KG 45 sub machine gun, two caliber 45 pistols, three 12 gauge shotguns, a caliber 38 revolver, assorted magazines of firearms containing ammunition, as well as an ammunition box.

Initial police investigations indicated that the arrested rebel suspects were allegedly involved in a shooting incident on March 28 in Brgy. Pinowayan, Don Salvador Benedicto.

In a statement, Maj. Gen. Marion Sison, 3rd Infantry Division commander, lauded the collaborative efforts of the 79IB, 1st NOCPMFC and the resulted in the capture of the rebel remnants.

While two of the arrested rebel suspects are minors, Sison said they should be held accountable for the crimes they committed.

“Their capture will bring justice to the victims of their illicit actions and other atrocities,” he stressed.* (NBGB)
