La Castellana Banana Festival kicks off Monday
La Castellana town will once more reverberate with the opening on Monday, April 1 of its 25th Banana Festival, simultaneous with the town’s annual patronal fiesta.
Mayor Alme Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan will lead the opening ceremony at the Panorama Park at 10 a.m.
The municipality’s Agro-Trade Fair will also be opened, where all the 15 barangays in the town will showcase their products especially their homegrown bananas of different varieties.
The Agro-Trade Fair will be until April 5, 2024.
The week-long festivities will include the 1st Mayor Mhai’s Garden Show until April 5, and thr Plaza Food Park at the town plaza.
Another highlight of the Silver Banana festival is the Search for Banana King and Queen, Monday night to be held at the town’s auditorium.
On Tuesday, the Don Felix Elementary School and the La Castellana Elementary School will hold their respective alumni homecoming, while at the Panorama Park will be the 3rd Palupad Burador (kite flying) activity.
On April 3, the La Castellana National High School will hold its grand alumni homecoming. On April 4, the St. Vincent High School will have its general alumni homecoming.
The festivities will culminate on April 5, with the St. Vincent Ferrer annual patronal fiesta.
Nicor-Mangilimutan said that the town is now known for its Sab-a banana variety sticks that is already sold in local and national outlets. It has different flavors and likened to the french fries.* (with/DSY)
