In marking its 40 Years of Sweet Success, BongBong’s Piaya and Barquillos is celebrating a festivity that will recognize and promote Bacolod’s famous Piaya.

Capitalizing our sweet culture and to resource the value of our sweet heritage in contributing to the Filipino culture and values as our main drive to advance our edge to be the leader and be the trendsetter in pasalubong industry, BongBong’s is launching the first Piaya Festival in the country.

Bongbong’s founders are the couple Reynaldo “Bongbong” Villan and Ma. Lomer “Mira” Cañedo Villan.

The founders believe that it is high time to promote and include Bacolod’s Famous Piaya in the spotlight of Philippine culinary roadmaps.

The festival aims to create a solid impact on culinary tourism in Negros.

Bacolod City is known as the “City of Smiles” all throughout the country, and is touted as the home of the tastiest and most delicious chicken inasal in the whole archipelago.

People talk about these attributions to Bacolod City whenever the name of the city comes up during friendly conversations, and even in formal gatherings. However, there is still one thing that the city can be proud of, but it is something that has not been strategically disseminated so as to equal the attribution of being the “home of the best chicken inasal.”

The city remains to be the home of the best piaya, and this recognition needs to capture the attention of the national and international audience. While this may already be known in the Province of Negros Occidental, including nearby provinces in the region, there is a bigger audience that needs to be acquainted with such distinction of the city.

Thus, in order to ensure that Bacolod will be holding this title, as the city with the “Best Playa in the Philippines,” a festival that is geared towards the celebration of such distinction is a must.

The “Piaya Festival” will be adding another prestige to the City of Smiles, alongside “Masskara Festival,” and will be one of the added attractions during the festivities in the province.
