November 24, 2023

Twelve city employees of the San Carlos City government tested positive for illegal drugs in a random drug test on Thursday.

Mayor Renato Gustilo said that of the 12 employees, 10 were job order workers and two were regular employees.

Gustilo said the job order employees were informed that they are terminated immediately.

The two regular employees who tested positive will be subjected to a confirmatory test and if they are found positive again it will be up to the Civil Service Commission to order their termination or rehabilitation.

On Thursday, a total of 98 employees of the San Carlos City government were subjected to a random drug test by the San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.

The employees come from 10 offices and departments of the city government.

Joe Recalex Alingasa Jr., City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), said he has been constantly reminding employees under his supervision of their liability if they are involved in illegal drug use.

In July this year, 40 employees from the City Engineering Department also tested positive for illegal drugs.

Gustilo said his administration conducts annual drug test on its employees.* (EYAdiong)
