2 NPAs give up, firearms and ammos seized by 94th IB troops in Himamaylan

The Philippine Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion encountered remnants of Central Negros 2, New People’s Army (NPA) in Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental at 9:40 this morning, November 8, 2023.

A report from 94th IB FBP revealed thst while conducting a Community Support Program in the area, the soldiers received a tip from a concerned villager about the presence of armed individuals believed to be remnants of the Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs).

In response, the troops of the 94IB conducted a security patrol that resulted to an encounter against 9 CNTs. The firefight lasted for 15 minutes before the NPAs scampered in different directions, the report indicated.

“The encounter resulted to the surrender of two NPAs (name is withheld for security purposes) and the seizure of three M16 rifles, one M4 rifle, one Garand rifle, and three long magazines of M16. Also 12 short magazines (M16), two magazines (M14), three bandoliers, two backpacks, a generator, a pair of rainboots, and a cache of subversive documents,” the report added.

“Lt. Col. Almonte extended his heartfelt gratitude to the local community for their steadfast support and collaborative efforts in the ongoing battle against insurgency in Barangay Buenavista. Their cooperation has been instrumental in the successes achieved by the 94IB. These successful operations stand as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the 94th Infantry Battalion to maintain peace, stability, and security in Central Negros. The support of the villagers serves as a clear sign that the NPAs have lost their grip on their once-strong mass bases,” the report also indicated.*
