Governor Lacson running for reelection in 2025
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson confirmed today that he is seeking a 3rd term in 2025.
Lacson’s confirmation followed days after the United Negros Alliance’s (UNegA) revelation that the party is discussing whom to choose as their candidate for vice governorship.
Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., UNegA secretary general, said three incumbent officials in Negros Occidental are being eyed as possible candidate for vice governor to replace Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer in 2025 who will return to the 4th district.
“There is still enough time to discuss politics in our hands to talk about 2025,” Governor Lacson, who belongs to Love Negros party, pointed out.
He added that his party is yet to meet to discuss the 2025 polls.
Pressed if he is ready to face anyone that will challenge him for the province’s top post: “As it is right now I am the presumptive candidate for governor of Love Negros.”
This developed as several names have floated to possibly challenge him for governor.
He also pointed out that he has no problem working with anyone from UNegA. “I can work with anyone,” Lacson said.* (EYA)
