Comelec assures security of teachers serving BSKE polls

October 25, 2023

The Commission on Election in Negros Occidental has assured public school teachers serving in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections of their security.

Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, provincial election supervisor, said that police personnel and soldiers assigned at polling precincts will remain until all votes are counted.

Ananoria said security personnel have already been deployed in areas classified as election areas of concern.

There are 51 election areas of concern in the province of the total 622 villages.

Of the 51, three are listed under the yellow category or areas of concern, while 45 are under orange or areas of immediate concern.

Ananoria said that the formal send-off of security forces for the BSKE in Negros Occidental is set tomorrow, Friday October 27.

“There are enough police personnel and soldiers in the province,” he added.

He also said that all accountable forms to be used for the polls have already been sent especially to far-flung areas and contingency plans are also in place in case the election paraphernalia is damaged and may not be enough.

Ananoria reminded all candidates to just be “sports in the campaign and accept the results of the election.”

“The voice of the people is the voice of God,” he said.

The last day of the campaign is on October 28.* (Eugene Y. Adiong/NDB file photo)
