Mansilingan emerge victorious in Mayor Benitez inter barangay chess team tourney

Barangay Mansilingan won againts Brgy. Bata to emerge as Champion in the recently concluded 1st Mayor Albee Benitez Bacolod Inter Barangay Chess Team Championship 2023 on October 14 and 15 at Robinson’s Place Bacolod. Tangub Team A trounced Villamonte 3-1 and snatched the 1st runner-up prize, while Bata settled for 2nd runner- up.

Completing the top 10 finishers: 5th, Sum-ag A; 6th, Mansilingan B; 7th, Handumanan; 8th, Villamonte A; 9th, Villamonte B; and 10th, Brgy 6.

The champion team received the Mayor Albee Benitez Championship Cup, P30,000 cash, gold medals to the members of the team, and certificate of achievement & participation. Second and 3rd placers received P20,000 and P10,000, respectively with trophies, medals, and certificate of achievements and participations. Cash prizes were also awarded to the 4th to 10th team winners and in the individual award from Board 1 to 5.

Project Director & Sum-ag Brgy. Capt. Rodney Carmona, and Tournament Director & President of Bacolod Chess Players Association Kagawad Dominador Bergano, Jr., awarded the prizes to the winners and assisted by Brgy. Capts. – Paul Anieve of Mandalagan, Rudy Baydo of Brgy 6, John Malayang of Brgy. 33, Bob Asan of Taculing, and Atty. Hermigilo Pauyon & Atty. Adelaida Lim.

The event is sponsored by Mayor Albee Benitez, endorsed by Hon. Lady Gles Pallen president of Liga ng mga Barangay of this city under the auspices of Bacolod Chess Players Association in cooperation with Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, Robinsons Bacolod, and the National Chess Federation of the Philippines.
