GSIS Bacolod holds DepEd meeting

In response to the needs and welfare of the people in the government service and in its effort to bring GINHAWA FOR ALL (GFAL), the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Bacolod Branch Office conducted a “DepEd Meeting” participated by Agency Authorized Officers (AAO’s), Electronic Remittance File (ERF) Handlers, Personnel Officer, and Payroll Officers of the 13 Division Offices and 72 Autonomous National High Schools in Negros Occidental on August 24, 2023 at O’Hotel Bacolod City.

The DepEd meeting was another series of information dissemination programs of GSIS-Bacolod Branch Office for as AAO’s and ERF Handlers are kept updated on the latest policies and programs and provide them the assistance in reconciling the agency premium receivables and members due and demandable (DnD) loan accounts.

GSIS Branch Manager Cecilia C. Tenaja discussed on the Roles and Functions of AAO’s and ERF Handlers, the Profiling of Unpaid Premiums and Loans Monitoring, the Causes and Effects of Unpaid Premiums and Due and Demandable accounts, and other GSIS reminders.

Manager Tenaja re-emphasized to agencies ection 14 (Remittance of Contribution), Rule III of the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations (RIRR) of R. A. 8291 Section 14.2 states “The government shall also deduct from the fixed monthly compensation of the employees the loan amortizations (consolidated loans, policy loan, emergency loan, housing loan and other loans), premium payments (optional, pre-need and other non-life insurance) and other amounts due to GSIS.

Section 14.3 the said amounts shall be remitted to the GSIS within the first 10 days of the calendar month following the month when the deductions were effected, accompanied.

“To remit accurately and promptly the mandated contributions for both personal and government shares, including loan repayments, for loans/benefits are computed based on premium payments made… What you get is what you paid” Tenaja added.

Other reminders include: To check their respective emails regularly specifically on the agency data sent for validation, Uploading of agency remittance should be done 5-days before actual payment and should be remitted before the 10th day of the month; Payments made after the 10th will incurred a 2% interest on delayed remittance; Encouraging agency to pay online or through banks to avoid error in checks and reminding members to download and use the GSIS Touch Mobile App as this will promote efficient and accessible service to our stakeholders or GINHAWA as GSIS refer to it.

Carl Anthony M. Ronato, BCU Staff Officer I, presented on the technical side of DepEd Regional Office VI Payroll System: the Premiums and Loan Payment Updating Tool.

Agency issues and concerns were addressed during an open forum by Manager Tenaja, Melanie B. Balbuena, Billing and Collection Unit Head, and Miles Andres C.
