Besa rules BMBC’s singles bowling event
Contaoi, Palermo dominant in Davao
Twenty-year old Jericho Jarod “JJ” Besa ruled over 40 tenpin bowlers in the recently-concluded Bacolod Monday Bowlers Club (BMBC) Trio Tenpin Bowling Classic singles event tournament held at Lopue’s East Bowling Center in Bacolod City.
A former Sugarbowl Tenpin Association, Inc. (STAI) youth tenpinner, JJ Besa started training at age 15 in a bowling clinic organized by STAI led by Mr. Billy Lopue with coaches Herman Santos and Ariel Yelo. In 2019, the BSCS Cum Laude graduate represented our country during the 20th Storm U22 International Junior All Stars.
Besa bested the No 1. seeded bowler and eventual 1st Runner-up Dr. Larnie Vencer with a score of 198-155 pin falls capturing the championship crown during the bowling for-a-cause singles event finals. Besa was also awarded the Highest Singles Male with 262 pfs.
The 2nd runner-up went to Agustin “Boy” Garingalao who defeated duckpin master Grace Diopenes (3rd runner-up), 210-162; while fourth and fifth runner-ups were awarded to Pato Fadollone and Cheryl De Guzman. Highest Singles Female was captured by Lotis Contaoi who scored 220 pfs and the No.1 singles qualifier was secured by Vir Arcolas with 1,231 pfs.
Meanwhile, two tenpin bowlers who are competitively playing in the BMBC Beast Games were dominant in the 15th DATBA Kadayawan National Bowling Tour 2023 held in Davao City last August 13. Top seed Contaoi championed the Classified Division and won the top prize, on the other hand, 2nd seed Jack Palermo settled for 2nd Runner-up in the Open Division.* (JGT)
