Mayor Miranda Opens Kabankalan City’s 26th Charter Anniversary

The City Government of Kabankalan celebrates its 26th charter anniversary, a significant milestone in the city’s vibrant history. This prestigious event, which commenced today in grand style, showcases the remarkable progress and development that Kabankalan has achieved over the years.

Mayor Benjie Miranda has chosen the theme “Udyak sa Kabuganaan, Kabankalan!” for this occasion, which symbolizes the unity and prosperity of the community.

According to Engr. Ricardo Regalia, Chairman of the Kabankalan City Cultural and Tourism Foundation, Inc., the event will feature a series of exciting activities and programs designed to entertain and engage residents and visitors alike, including cultural performances from day one to day six.

Today also marked the silver anniversary of DepED Kabankalan since it became a schools division office. The celebration began with an exciting caravan that paraded through the streets of Kabankalan, featuring a colorful float that instilled a sense of pride in the city’s achievements in the education sector.

Due to inclement weather, the attendees were gathered at the Kabankalan City Cultural Center. Congresswoman Mercedes Alvarez, Board Member Jeffrey Tubula, and SPM Macarion Zafra, Chairman of the Committee in Education, delivered inspirational messages to teachers. Vice Mayor Miguel Zayco delivered the opening remarks, while the keynote speaker, Russell Gorre, a Master Teacher II of Negros Occidental High School, shared his insights. The attendees were entertained by the impressive musical performances of the Kabankalan City Rondalla Ensemble.

The Schools Division of Kabankalan is led by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Michelle Acuyong, CESO VI and ASDS Dr. Lea Bellesa, CESO VI.

Following the ceremony, the highly anticipated Agro Industrial Booth, organized by the Liga ng mga Barangay, was officially opened to the public. The booths showcase agricultural products from 32 barangays.

Additionally, the public plaza’s comfort room was made accessible to the public today. Mayor Miranda, Vice Mayor Zayco, and the City Council led the blessings.* (PR)
