Strike back event of 2023
The long wait is finally over. From June 27 to July 2 of this year, the 23rd Negros Open Tenpin Tournament 2023 will be held at Lopue’s East Bowling Center in Villamonte, Bacolod City. Tenpin bowlers from Iloilo, Cebu, Manila, and the City of Smiles will be competing to be the next champion of this annual national bowling event.
The tournament will showcase skills from the professional bowlers themselves who had made numerous achievements in the sport of bowling, such as, Philippine Sports Commission commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo, who holds the record in the Asian Games for most gold medals won and the Asian record for most gold medals won in tenpin bowling with five. And six-time World Bowling champion Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno, who is a World Bowling Hall of Famer and is the only bowling athlete to be awarded with the prestigious International Olympic Committee President’s Trophy.
Members of the RP youth will be expected to be competing in the said event along with the STAI Youth of Bacolod who just recently made news by winning two championships during the 41st PBA Nilo Penado Open Championships. Starting with Tracey Carlyn Tan winning the mixed youth category and followed by Rephael Besana who won the Marvin Hiponia Cup.* (JGT)
