Reg’l PNP waiting for Comelec guidelines on EWAs

The Police Regional Office 6 is still waiting for the guidelines of the Commission on Elections on Election Watchlist Areas (EWAs) for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, PRO 6 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, said today.

Villaflor said there is a need to update the previous list of EWAS based on the current situation in the barangay level.

The guidelines of COMELEC will be our basis in the monitoring of armed groups in Western Visayas, Villaflor said.

Villaflor assured that the police in the region will be vigilant as the election nears.

Earlier, the Western Visayas Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) reported that there are 37 EWAS in the region with 17 located in Negros Occidental.* (EYA)
