MORE Power Showcases Its State-of-the-Art Equipment & Outstanding Consumer Care Services
MORE POWER Iloilo, the power distribution utility in Iloilo City, not only has state-of-the-art substations and lines that ensure stable and reliable power distribution. It also has a monitoring system and a call center that enhances its capability to immediately respond to consumer concerns.
During the visit of Bacolod newsmen to its facilities and offices, the DU also showed its power trading capability that tracks on real time prices of electricity supply to make sure it can get the cheapest supply.
No wonder that as early as teo years ago, then Department of Energy Undersecretary Emmanuel Juaneza daid he was “truly impressed” of his visit to MORE Power’s corporate offices where he was given an inside peek into the inner workings of the company and a quick rundown of ongoing undertakings.
“After what MORE Power president Roel Castro has shown me—the changes that they have done so far and the steps taken to improve the supply reliability in Iloilo City—I have to say MORE Power is really moving towards upgrading and stepping up for the convenience of the customers,” he said.
Juaneza, who hails from Arevalo, was home for the holidays and toured MORE headquarters with his wife, Alma “Bing” Juaneza, executive assistant to Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, and Iloilo City lone district Rep. Julienne Baronda.
Juaneza was particularly amazed by the short turnaround in the power distribution situation in metropolitan Iloilo.
“In such a short time—less than a year—I can see that MORE Power has already done so much,” he noted, adding, “I foresee the Energy department helping in whatever way or form it can moving forward.”
Juaneza sees the trajectory of MORE as being in keeping with the mandate of then President Rodrigo Duterte to then (Energy) Secretary Al Cusi, which is to energize every household in the country.
“The DoE is working very hard to make that happen alongside franchises like MORE and with electric cooperatives.
For me, MORE is a microcosm of that whole perspective of electrification,” he said.
At the time, Castro had intimated that MORE is targeting to connect 30,000 more households to the distribution facility in the next few years. It was already achieved.
“I am more than pleased with what I see here today, and it would be safe to say MORE can count on the support of the DoE—for example, in the Power Supply Agreement—because the DoE is open to everyone, all the power stakeholders, be it a genco (generation company), a DU (distribution utility), or the consumers. We are always looking at the broader perspective,” Juaneza stated.
The undersecretary also noted how thankful he was that MORE was fulfilling its corporate social responsibility in various ways.* (with reports from APT)
