Himamaylan’s pavilion at Panaad Park to undergo major renovation

April 21, 2023

The pavilion of Himamaylan City at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City will undergo a major renovation after the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2023.

Mayor Raymund Tongson said today that they have planned the renovation in 2019 but because of the COVID-19 pandemic the budget allotted was redirected to address the pandemic.

“We already have a preliminary design but I will have to sit down with my architect to finalize it,” the mayor said.

He added that he wants the pavilion to be an extension office of the city government and as a function and events area to accommodate the city’s dancers and cultural representatives.

“It will also house city employees who have transactions in Bacolod,” Tongson pointed out.

“It will be a one stop shop with aircon and water supply. So it will be a major renovation of the facility,” he added.

Everyday our pavilion is full of people, he added.

Meanwhile, Tongson said that Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco defined the effect of the return of Panaad sa Negros Festival “very well as the return of the activities of the province down to the cities and municipalities.”

“It has given income to our small and medium scale entrepreneurs (SMEs) as well the choreographers, make up artists, vendors and suppliers, ” the mayor also said.

The Panaad Festival, he said, “combines all the fiestas in Negros Occidental.”

The festival “connects the people with the different activities of the province,” he said.

“It is a festival not only of the province but it involves the various constituents of the different local government units in Negros,” Tongson said.* (EYA)
