Engr. Siason is New TUPV OIC for ADAA

Engr. Marc Francis M. Siason, MT, has been officially designated as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Office of the Assistant Director for Academic Affairs (ADAA), Technological University of the Philippines Visayas (TUPV) by Campus Director Eric A. Malo-oy, Ph.D., through Office Order 2023-028 dated March 29, 2023 with the effectivity date of April 1, 2023 to October 31, 2023.

The appointment came as part of the university’s succession planning, as the special assignment of Engr. Patrick John G. Delumpa, Ph.D., as OIC of said office ends on March 31, 2023.

Concurrent to this new appointment, Engr. Siason will continue to serve as the Dean of the College of Engineering Technology (CoET) and Program Head of the Automotive Engineering Technology.

Among the duties and responsibilities of the appointment are assisting the Campus Director in establishing development directions towards upgrading/modernizing the standards of academics and revitalizing the academic sector, as well as initiate reforms and implement the academic programs in accordance with the standards set forth under existing policies of the university,

Under the leadership of Engr. Siason and Program Head Prof. Fritzy Asuncion, TUPV was the top performing school in the Philippines in the Chemical Technician Licensure Examination last October 2022, with a 100% passing rate and a Top 1 and a Top 5 courtesy of Christian Rey Salinio dela Cruz (94%) and Razel Chiva Sobrevilla (92%) respectively (national passing rate: 85.16%). TUPV also topped the Chemical Technician Licensure Examination in 2018, 2019, and 2021.

TUPV produced a Top 5 and a Top 7 in the Mechanical Engineering Licensure Examinations last February 2022 under the leadership of Engr. Delumpa, Dean of the Mechanical Engineering Department, and Program Head Engr. Sheila May L. Escobar.

Siason earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Technological University of the Philippines Visayas (TUPV) in 1998 while he was awarded his Master in Technology by TUP Manila, College of Industrial Technology, in 2015. Siason was a Sales and Application Engineer for Deka Sales Corporation in Bacolod City, prior to becoming Service Manager of Toyota Bacolod and ably serving in that capacity for 10 years.

Engr. Siason joined TUPV as an Instructor in 2009, and due to his dedication, rose to become the Head of the then Mechanical Engineering Technology program, before finally being designated as Dean of the College of Engineering Technology (CoET) in 2018. He is the Lead Auditor in ISO 9001:2015 and a staunch advocate of continuous improvement and innovation. Engr. Siason, who is an accredited Safety Officer, is also the Safety Officer of TUPV, a consistent proponent of the inclusion of Basic Occupational Safety and Health in the university.* (James U.
