WV Region City Mayors: Mayor Benitez, Mayor Treñas Lead in Exemplary Performance
In a recent survey conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation, Inc. (RPMD), the Western Visayas Region’s City Mayors were put under the microscope, and the results have been eye-opening. The “Boses ng Bayan” performance survey reveals the top-performing city mayors in the region, shedding light on their job performance and their impact on their constituents.
It’s no secret that city mayors are responsible for various essential services, from ensuring public safety to managing public finances and providing adequate infrastructure. But what happens when these officials fall short of their responsibilities? It’s easy to imagine the consequences: citizens left to fend for themselves, inadequate access to essential services, and a general feeling of despair and disenchantment with the government.
That’s why holding City Mayors accountable for their job performance is crucial. The “Boses ng Bayan” survey provides an essential benchmark for measuring these officials’ effectiveness and ability to deliver results. The survey covers a range of metrics, from public safety and financial management to infrastructure and service delivery, providing a comprehensive picture of each mayor’s performance, said Dr. Paul Martinez of RPMD Bacolod City’s Mayor Albee Benitez, a newcomer to the job but with prior experience as a Congressman, has set the bar high with an impressive score of 83.7% in the “Boses ng Bayan” performance survey conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD). Not far behind him is Iloilo City’s Mayor Jerry Treñas, who achieved an 82.9% score, effectively tying with Mayor Benitez in the top spot.
Despite being a neophyte in the mayoral position, Mayor Benitez has demonstrated exceptional leadership and management skills, which have translated into tangible improvements for the citizens of Bacolod City. His ability to prioritize the needs of his constituents and execute strategic plans has undoubtedly contributed to his remarkable performance in the survey.
Mayor Treñas, on the other hand, is no stranger to public service, having served as a Congressman and a former Mayor of Iloilo City. His experience and dedication to his constituents have helped him achieve a score comparable to Mayor Benitez’s, and he remains a strong contender for the top spot.
These two mayors serve as excellent examples of what effective leadership can accomplish in a short amount of time. Their scores in the survey are a testament to their commitment to their constituents and the progress they have made in their respective cities. As the Western Visayas Region continues to grow and evolve, it is reassuring that its cities have mayors up to the challenge of leading them forward.
Securing a high score of 80.1%, Ronnie Dadivas of Roxas City has claimed second in the performance ratings. Following closely behind is Javi Benitez of Victorias City, with a score of 77.5%. Beboy Yap Jr. of Escalante City has earned the fourth spot with a commendable score of 73.2%, while Maria Gina Lizares of Sipalay City has secured the fifth rank with a score of 71.4%. The Western Visayas City Mayors’ Performance Survey is a crucial part of the “Boses ng Bayan” national poll, comprehensively evaluating public officials’ performance. The survey is based on face-to-face interviews with 10,000 adult respondents, with a sampling error of +/-1% and a 95% confidence level. By doing these kinds of assessments regularly, leaders can be held accountable for their actions and constantly work to improve the lives of the people who live in their cities.* (RPMD)
