Mayor Tongson National Youth & Schools Chess Championship Unfolds April 13

The Mayor Rogelio Raymund I. Tongson, Jr. National Youth & Schools Chess Championship will unfold on April 13 to 16 at the Himaya Hall, City Hall Building, Himamaylan.

The tournament is a FIDE rated event and is sanction by the World Chess Federation under the auspices of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines will be participated in by the cream of the crop among woodpushers from the different Local Government Units of the country composed of 10 categories for Boys and Girls of under 17, 15,13,11 and 9 years of age.

The chessfest is sponsored by the city government of Himamaylan under the stewardship of Mayor Rogelio Raymond I. Tongson, Jr., under the auspices of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines thru the leadership of its Chairman and President Congressman Prospero Butch Pichay in coordination with the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee.

The winners will advance to the qualifying grandfinals and have a chance to represent our country to the ASEAN Youth Chess Champion- ship to be held in Bangkok, Thailand this year.
