2023 Palarong Panlalawigan kicks off at Pana-ad Park and Stadium today

Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson’s ABANSE NEGRENSE Grassroots Sports Development Programs and the Negros Occudental Provincial Sports Office are kicking off this year’s Schedule of Sports Activities with the 2023 18th Archery Grassroots Development Program Leg 2 at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium on March 31 – April 2, 2023.

This tournament is in collaboration with the World Archery Philippines, Inc. (WAP, INC.), a recognized National Sports Association of the Philippines Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee.

The opening ceremony will be on March 31, Friday, at 9:00 AM. It will be followed by the competition proper at 10:00 AM.

The upcoming archery competition will serve as the qualifying event for young Filipino archers all over the country in preparation for the participation in the World Youth Championship in Ireland on July 1-9, 2023. And through this event, Gov. Lacson and the Provincial Sports Office are hoping to promote the sport in our province and stimulate the interest of our young Negrense athletes in archery.

The 2023 18th Archery Grassroots Development Program Leg 2 will be participated by at least 300 young archers, team officials, parents, and guests from the different regions in the country. The participants also include Negros Occidental’s active local archery club, United Negrense Archery Club, led by Coach Blaire Ejercito.

Also in attendance during the competition are National Development Coach Nino Sinco, National Coach (for Men) Clint Sayo, National Coach (for Women) Joy Marino, and WAP, Inc. Secretary General Rosendo C. Sombrio.
Prov’l Meet Opens Today

Apart from the archery competition, the 2023 Palarong Panlalawigan will also kick off at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium today, March 30, 2023.

The opening ceremony will start with a ceremonial parade at 3:00 PM, while the program proper will begin at 3:30 PM.

Prior to the commencement of the 2023 Palarong Panlalawigan’s opening program, a short ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place to mark the inauguration of the Pana-ad Track Oval. The ceremony will be spearheaded by Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson, Provincial Sports Office Head Mr. Anthony Carlo Agustin, and PDO IV-Head SPCD Engr. Jose Maria Amugod.* (PSO)
