TUP-V TechCon 2023 set to re-vitalize innovation in the agri sector

The Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas (TUP-V), a state-run institution of higher education renowned for producing PRC Board Exams topnotchers, will set ablaze rekindled dynamism and innovation in the local agriculture industry as it will host again, after two years, its much-anticipated TUP Visayas Technology Convention (TechCon) 2023 on March 3, 2023, Friday, 9:00 A.M. at the TUP-V Gymnasium in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The trend-setting event, with the theme “Sustainable and Progressive Technological Innovations in Agriculture,” will see the convergence of different government agencies such as the local LGU, DOST-ASTI, DOST- PTRI, and DA, legislators, industry frontrunners and prime movers, academic leaders and planners, and proponents and pioneers of change, adaptability, and innovation in a bid to accelerate the local agricultural industry all the while ensuring environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

Leading this historic milestone is TUP Visayas Campus represented by Dr. Reynaldo P. Ramos, EnP, TUP System President, Dr. Eric A. Malo-oy, TUP-V Campus Director, Dr. Patrick John Delumpa, ADAA OIC, and Engr. Gregorio L. Crisostomo, MBA TUP-V Asst. Director for Research and Extension.

Dignitaries set to grace the include Hon. Cong. Jose Francisco “Kiko” B. Benitez, Ph.D., of the 3rd District of Negros Occidental and Hon. Mayor Nilo Jesus Antonio E. Lizares of Talisay City, Mr. Ramon Uy, the Proprietor of R.U. Foundry and Machine Shop Corp. will give the keynote message.

The convention will kick off with the opening program in the morning and will culminate in the opening of exhibits which will feature technological breakthroughs in the industry. The Technology Forum will run from 1:30 to 5:00 P.M.

Panel speakers for the topic “Progressive Technologies in Agriculture” are Dr. Franz A. de Leon, Director, DOST-ASTI, Dr. Julius L. Leaño Jr., OIC Director, DOST- PTRI, and Mr. David Lockhart, CEO/President, Tractorco Company Inc.

Panel speakers for the topic“Sustainable Technologies for Agriculture” are Dr. Manuel Reyes, Research Professor/Agroecological Engineer, Kansas State University (KSU) and Dr. Glenn Baticados, Program Head, Emerging Innovation for Growth Department, Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).
