17-yr.-old kills own grandma

A 17-year-old hacked to death his 78-year-old grandmother at Sitio Pisong in Barangay Buluangan, San Carlos City Wednesday.

Angelina Escorial, also of the place, reprimanded her grandson for hitting their barking dog, prompting the latter to attack her with a bladed weapon.

Escorial died on the spot. The name of her grandson was withheld by the police being a minor.

Police Capt. Roby Aurita, San Carlos Police Station deputy chief, told newsmen that there was a party being held near the victim’s home at the time and the suspect may have been intoxicated.

When the suspect went home, the victim’s dog was barking loudly, prompting the suspect to hit the dog.

Escorial saw what happened and tried to reprimand her grandson.

Angry for the reprimand, the grandson grabbed a bladed weapon and attacked his grandmother who was also fatally hit in the head.

He later surrendered to the Barangay Hall of Barangay Buluangan, and wasturned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) being a minor.* (DGB)
