Traslacion del San Sebatian set today in Bacolod

The San Sebastian Cathedral – Parish of Bacolod, along with the Bacolod City Tourism office, conducted a coordination meeting with involved sectors and institutions recently in preparation for the procession of Saint Sebastian today, Friday, January 20.

The procession or the “Traslacion del san Sebastian” will commence by 3 p.m. and it will pass through starting from Sto. Niño Chapel – Magsungay, Purok 2 Punaw, Singcang Barangay Hall, Alfala Lumber, (Magsaysay) flyover, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO),Vecino, old Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, AP Cargo, Awing, Lopues San Sebastian, Old City Hall to Public Plaza and it will be carried by various public and private groups and institutions on stated locations.

It will be followed by a cultural program upon the arrival of the carriage of San Sebastian at Public Plaza and fireworks display in the latter.

At 10 a.m. today, a fiesta mass will be held after a procession from Bishop’s house to Cathedral.

Bacolod Mayor Albee Benitez emphasized the significance of the event to happen in order to promote, encourage, and develop cultural tourism in the city and strengthen our identity through historical festivities as Bacolod celebrates its 90th year this 2023 leading to centenary celebration in 2033.

The procession intends to develop and entice people to a gathering that celebrates our history and culture, City Tourism Head Tere Manalili shared.

Around 2,000 to 2,500 devotees are expected to participate in the “traslacion”.

The traslacion is a startup event for the upcoming reenactment of the passion of Christ (Taltal) and Flores de Mayo in the months of April and May, respectively, which the city plans to develop more for religious and cultural tourism significance.* (Bacolod City Public Information Office – BCD PIO)
