Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie Miranda said that the opening activities of the 47th edition of the Sinulog sa Kabankalan 2023 are a success.

The mayor said that aside from full packed hotels and pension houses in the city, the crowd that gathered during the Launching Night last January 6 was unexpected. Even small businessmen and sidewalk vendors are seeing a huge rise in revenue as the activities in both the public plaza and the football field are frenzy with music and bands.

Miranda added that he expects a much bigger crowd and revelers on January 15, highlight of the Sinulog sa Kabankalan 2023.

The much awaited Grand Tribal Parade slated at 9:30 in the morning of January 15 will be followed by the Tribal Arena Dance competition at 2 p.m.

Chocolate Factory, a renowned national band will follow after the awarding ceremonies. Performing back to back with Chocolate Factory are celebrities Maui Taylor, Katya Santos, Vxon and Zephanie Dimaranan.

Fascia Anne Ravena and Nico Nicolas will also perform in the evening of January 14 at Kabankalan Pub.

The Sinulog sa Kabankalan 2023 will then be capped by a Grand Fireworks Display.

“I am inviting everyone to come and celebrate with us here in Kabankalan City”, the mayor stressed.

“Every night is a night to remember for our Sinulog 2023”, he said, reflecting on the nightly concerts and live DJs on both the public plaza and the football field.

Adding color and glamor to the already popular Sto. Niño Festival is the still present display of giant stars and the longest and brightest Tunnel of Stars in Southern Philippines.

“Come every one and let us thank our creator and Sto. Nino for protecting us during the pandemic and giving us back our happy days”, he said.

Meanwhile, Acting City Administrator Engr. Randy Siason emphasized that police and first aid responders are all ready for any contingency.

Siason said that an emergency response command post is situated in the public plaza itself. “We also installed portalets in strategic areas for the convenience of everyone”, Siason added.

He also appealed to the public to dispose of garbage properly to ensure cleanliness during the duration of the 47 Sinulog Festival.* (ELT)
