‘AlyansaTOGA behind ‘Maylan’s rapid development’
The current progress and rapid development in Himamaylan City is attributed to the “strong unity in the local government that always supports them,” Mayor Raymund Tongson said.
Tongson was reacting to pronouncements of Vice Mayor Justin Gatuslao who strongly reiterated his commitment to their tandem under AlyansaTOGA (Tongson-Gatuslao) amid rumors that the latter will be running for mayor in 2025.
Tongson said he is thankful to Gatuslao for his “continuing support to their tandem … This is good for Himamaylanons,” he pointed out.
As to the rumors, Tongson said all these “have been circulating in Himamaylan ever since we took over the reigns of City Hall.”
Gatuslao, in an earlier statement, described the rumors as “fanciful nonsense.”
The vice mayor denied rumors that he will be running against Tongson, his ally since the 2019 elections when they ran under one group and won.
“I laughed off these rumors because these do not deserve my time,” he said.
Gatuslao also assured Tongson that he is “not running against him and their tandem will remain strong.”
“My commitment to our tandem is strong. Our tandem has a proven track record of delivering a positive impact for Himamaylan,” he said.
“The alliance is growing,” Gatuslao said.* (EYA)
